Rufina
And there were yet more tests, another ultrasound, plus a lung scan to rule out metastases.

The oncologist gave us somewhat encouraging conclusion, saying that surgery was necessary, after which Rufina could very well live for several years.

Before the surgery, a computed tomography scan and some other procedures and tests will be necessary. During this time, the dog must stay in the city where the clinic is located.

Unfortunately, the capital is far away from we live at the moment, and travel there is expensive. This is where we need your help.

In the coming weeks, we will face significant expenses related to preparation for the surgery, the surgery itself, transportation to and from the clinic, and post-operative care.

Please support us in our fight for Rufina's life with any amount you feel comfortable with, no matter small or large. Any help is greatly needed and appreciated.

Thank you, friends.
A sad event happened in our family, one we didn't expect and one for which we were unprepared.

Our dog, Rufina, got very ill.

It happened suddenly. In just a few days she stopped eating, stopped going for walks, and began to fade away.

A trip to the vet was a shock for us. The doctor told us Rufina had cancer and recommended euthanizing her... It's impossible to describe tears we shed on the way home from the vet.

But the next day, having pulled ourselves together, we went to another veterinarian to get a second opinion. Rufina had more tests done to her and another ultrasound. The second vet said there was still hope, but the dog should be taken to a specialist — an oncologist. And there were more tears, but this time tears of hope.

Unfortunately, since we left home in 2022 we live in a small town without good vet specialists, so that night we drove to the capital city to see an oncologist the first thing in the morning.

A sad update.
Rufina has almost stopped eating.
We've been trying to force-feed her for two days, but unfortunately, she's vomiting and can't digest anything she eats. This includes the pills and medications the veterinarian prescribed.

So this morning, after another sleepless night, we headed to the veterinary clinic, where we spent almost four hours. Rufina was given IVs with various medications, vitamins, and micronutrients to at least slightly improve her condition.

Unfortunately, our dog's always pink belly is turning yellow. Her liver is failing rapidly.

To survive the cancer surgery, Rufina needs to start eating and gain strength, but time is running out, and she simply may not have enough strength to recover.

We are still fighting. She is still fighting.

P.S. Two of the four veterinarians who have seen Rufina's case have suggested ending the treatment and euthanizing her. But there are still two veterinarians who advise not to lose hope...
